The Vision
To set up a community at Can Damon, and in locality, running courses in a sustainable life..
Courses to be run in:
forestry management, sustainable food production, alternative technology, machinery maintenance, theatre, arts and crafts, music, alternative / complimentary therapies, and spirituality:
The Property
Can Damon is an Estate/ Hamlet situated close to Coustouges, situated 3km from the Spanish border by road. One and a half hours from Girona and Perpignan airports.
The estate runs to 119 hectares, which includes 74 hectares of forest 45 Agricultural/horticultural terraces.
There is an ample water supply from 3 sources, one of which has been damaged by previous forest work.
There are a range of buildings;

restaurant seating 150 people

a hotel with 7 en suite double rooms

What Now:
The
restaurant and the hotel do not need too much renovation to be made
operable, the appartments, main house
and annexe, hopefully are read
for immediate occupancy: The gîtes require restauration and
beautification: the chapel is in good order, and can be opened
immediately for public or community use:
The terraces are overgrown, and need to be cleared prior to putting into production:
It is hoped that the initial work can be done by future community members and volunteers, EG WOOFers:

Can Damon is available on offer at around 900.000€
We need to locate:
110.000€ ~ required within the next few weeks
850.000€ ~ within a few months
350.000€
over the first few years for renovation and start up, running costs,
marketing, equipment etc
